On the Easdale guided car tour we travel south along the coast of Argyll and cross the Bridge over the Atlantic to Seil Island. Here at the Tigh nan Truish Inn, Highlanders changed into trousers to visit the mainland when Highland dress was prohibited after the last Jacobite Rebellion. Seil is one of the Slate Islands and Easdale slate was exported all over the world. Today the peaceful quality of the island seems to take you back in time to another age. See the quaint quarriers’ cottages at Ellenabeich and take the short ferry crossing to the island of Easdale where the quarriers cut out the slate.
