The Arduaine Gardens guided car tour is a must for keen gardeners.  In the mid-1880s J. Arthur Campbell built a mansion on a bare promontory just south of Oban. He designed a garden with a shelterbelt of exotic conifers and broadleaved trees. Behind the trees there are rhododendrons, azaleas and exotic plants from all over the world such as magnolias, giant Himalayan lilies, and swamp loving carnivorous plants. J. Arthur Campbell’s mansion is now Loch Melfort Hotel. At their bistro you can relax and look out to sea.
