Inveraray
Guided Car Tour

On the Inveraray Guided Car Tour we will travel along the Clyde and stop at the picturesque village of Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond, followed by a photo-stop at the Rest and Be Thankful (mountain pass).  The journey then continues through the stunning scenery of Argyll along Loch Eck to the beautiful village of Inveraray.  We visit the magnificent Inveraray Castle and Gardens.  The return journey is by ferry from Hunters Quay to the seaside town of Gourock, then back to Greenock.

Dundonald Castle & Burns
Guided Car Tour

Dundonald Castle in Ayrshire ws the ancestral home of the Royal Stewarts.  If you are an Outlander fan, you will know that this is the family who Jamie Fraser tried to restore to the throne of Great Britain.  The Dundonald Castle & Burns Guided Car Tour travels first to Dundonald Castle.  The local guide at the castle will help you to imagine daily life in the castle at the time of Robert II.  We travel on to Burns Birthplace Museum and visit Alloway Kirk and Brig o’Doon, which feature in Burns’ famous poem Tam O’Shanter, and also Burns Cottage.

Please note there is a steep path to Dundonald Castle.  Access to the upper floor of the castle is via turret stairs.

We travel east across Scotland and visit Edinburgh Castle where Mary Queen of Scots held court. On the Edinburgh Castle Guided Car Tour you will see the Honours of Scotland (Crown Jewels of Scotland) and you can explore the Royal Mile with its historic buildings, street performers and interesting shops.  After lunch we travel down Princes St past the Walter Scott monument and the neo-classical buildings of the New Town of Edinburgh.  You will have time to explore Princes St for shopping or Princes St Gardens.

The Glengoyne & Loch Lomond Guided Car Tour combines the pleasures of whisky with the scenic beauty of Loch Lomond.  You will travel past Dumbarton Rock, where William Wallace was once held prisoner.  We go through the countryside north of Glasgow, past the Campsie Fells (hills).  There is a guided tour of the distillery and 2 drams of free whisky.  We then visit the picturesque village of Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond.  We explore the village of Luss and take a boat cruise on Loch Lomond.

Stirling Castle
Guided Car Tour

On the Stirling Castle Guided Car Tour we take the scenic route through Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park to the charming village of Aberfoyle.  We then continue on the Duke’s Pass, a scenic route through hills and glens to the town of Callander, famous as the location of the tv series “Dr Finlay’s Casebook”.  We travel on to Stirling Castle, historically one of the most important castles in Scotland because of its position at the crossroads between west and east and the Highlands and the Lowlands.

Guided Car Tour

The Glasgow Guided Car Tour takes you along the  the Clyde to the iconic Kelvingrove Museum.  This striking building opened in 1901 and has 22 galleries and 8,000 objects.  There are displays of art, history, natural history, and lots more.  There is also a restaurant, café and gift shop.  In the afternoon we visit Glasgow Cathedral.  Built in the 12th century, it is a stunning example of gothic architecture.  Then we explore the city centre with its impressive Victorian buildings and one of the best shopping centres outside London.

Panoramic Lochs & Gardens
Guided Car Tour

On the Panoramic Lochs & Gardens Guided Car Tour, we travel along five lochs.  At Loch Lomond, we stop at the picturesque village of Luss, where  you can see the quaint cottages and the Church of Scotland built by a member of the Colquhoun clan.  Then we travel along Loch Long to the Rest & Be Thankful (mountain pass) for photos.  Lunch is at Loch Fyne, then we travel along Loch Eck to Benmore Botanic Gardens.  After a visit to the Gardens, we go round the Holy Loch to stop at the town of Dunoon, where you can explore the shops and walk along the seafront.  Return journey is by ferry across the Clyde to Gourock and then to Greenock.

Historic Argyll
Guided Car Tour

Inveraray Castle and Gardens were completed in 1789 by the 5th Duke of Argyll, and are currently lived in by the current Duke and his family.  On the Historic Argyll Guided Car Tour we explore the castle and the village of Inveraray.  We then travel on to Kilmartin Glen and visit Kilmartin Museum with its excellent exhibition of the history of the area.  This is followed by a visit to the prehistoric standing stones and cairns where we can experience the special atmosphere of the glen.

Guided Car Tour

The Inveraray Castle & the Campbells Guided Car Tour is focused on the Campbell history in the area.  We visit Inveraray Castle completed in 1789 by the 5th Duke of Argyll and chief of the clan Campbell.  We travel on to Loch Awe and see the ancient seat of the Campbells of Glenorchy, one of the most photographed castles in Scotland.  At Loch Awe village you will visit the enchanting St Conan’s Kirk which has an intriguing mix of architectural styles and was voted one of the best 10 buildings in Scotland of the past 100 years.
